Workflow & shortcuts

  1. Import and create a composition. Use Import footage in Project, then right-click the clip and choose New Composition from Footage. This uses the clip's size, frame rate and duration and creates its footage layer, Camera Tracker, and permanent Pre-process and Masks sections. Double-click footage to preview it or a composition to open it.
  2. Track. Select Tracked Points → Tracking, choose a preset and click Track. Add effects or masks before tracking. Pause/Resume and Step control tracking. Tracking finishes without solving the camera.
  3. Solve. Select Camera, set the lens and click Solve. This uses cached tracks. Change masks or lens settings and solve again; change tracking settings and Track again first. Reset solve keeps masks and tracks.
  4. Select and navigate. In 2D, scroll to zoom around the pointer, middle-drag to pan, and use Fit to restore the view. Zoom out to draw or edit masks beyond the footage edges. Drag a loop to select points; Shift adds to the selection, and Alt removes in 2D. Shift-click toggles a point. All, Invert and Clear are in the Tracked points Inspector. In 3D, Alt/Option + left drag orbits, middle or right drag pans, and Alt/Option + right drag or the wheel dollies. Camera view (2) is locked to the solved camera; choose World (1) to orbit.
  5. Create and adjust objects. After a solve, use + Add in the Hierarchy for a cube, plane, sphere, cone, null or Bot. Right-click in the viewer to place an object using selected solved points or the position under the cursor. In 3D, W moves, E rotates, R scales and F frames the selected object. Shift constrains movement or snaps rotation/scale; Esc cancels a transform drag. Right-click an object in the Hierarchy for Duplicate or Delete. Ctrl/Cmd+D duplicates the selected 3D object.
  6. Scene surfaces. Solve finds local surfaces from stationary tracked points. In 3D, the Surface mesh button above the preview shows the inferred connections. Sparse or uncertain areas stay open.
  7. Review and export. Scrub the timeline or play the review, then choose Export in the top workflow bar. Select FBX or GLB and include the animated camera, visible meshes, helpers and/or solved points. Choose a point limit or all points. The dialog shows progress, cancellation, success or failure, and a download link. Excluded and deleted trackers are omitted. Meshes export without textures; lens distortion is not baked. Monocular reconstruction has no absolute real-world scale.

When tracking needs help

For missing tracks or fast motion, try Full detail and every frame. For an uncertain camera or lens, enter a known focal length and Solve. Mask moving subjects and use stationary scene details for the camera solve.

Keyboard shortcuts

Shortcuts apply outside text fields and dialogs. Focused buttons use Space to activate themselves. Delete acts on the focused panel or active editing tool.

Ctrl/Cmd + Z
Undo. Text fields keep their own typing undo.
Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + Z
Redo; Ctrl+Y also works.
Ctrl/Cmd + D
Duplicate the selected 3D object.
Ctrl/Cmd + S
Save the project locally in this browser; edits also autosave.
Space
Play / pause review.
← →
Step through analyzed frames, or seek the footage preview when no analyzed frame is shown.
1 2 3
3D World, Camera and Top views. Use the 2D button to return to footage.
W E R
In 3D: Move, Rotate and Scale. In 2D while editing a mask: its Move, Rotate and Scale handles.
F
In 3D: frame the selected object.
R
In 2D, unless a mask is being edited: confirm resetting tracks and the camera solve. Masks, keyframes and authored work are kept; reset can be undone.
S
Process one frame while tracking is paused and initialized.
O
Cycle tracking overlays.
F2
Rename a selected editable item in Project or Hierarchy.
Delete / Backspace
Delete an editable item in the focused Project/Hierarchy panel, the selected mask, or a selected reference line in 2D. While drawing a mask, remove its last point.
